Wouter Dorigo receives Science Award of the Vienna University of Technology

On 23 January 2015 Wouter Dorigo, co-science lead and Earth Observation lead of the CCI soil moisture team, received the Science Award of the Vienna University of Technology for his outstanding research on soil moisture and climate.
Wouter Dorigo will use the Science Award, which comes with a prize money of 500,000 Euro, to study the impact of global warming on soil water availability and to asses the role of soil moisture in driving global vegetation dynamics. The soil moisture datasets that are developed within the CCI soil moisture project will play a central role herein.
The Science Award is granted every 3 years to successful early career scientists of the Vienna University of Technology to allow them to establish themselves as independent researchers at the international top level.
